"Teen Mom" Star Strikes Plea Deal In Drug Case
Reality television star Amber Portwood has struck a plea deal after being arrested for drugs last month. According to reports, Portwood, who stars on the MTV show "Teen Mom," was arrested in mid-December for unspecified drug-related charges, as well as violating the terms of her probation. Portwood pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of probation violation and could be sentenced to as many as five years in jail. However, under the terms of her plea bargain, since Portwood pleaded guilty in court, she is instead being sent to a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program. If she successfully completes the program, Portwood's case will be dismissed. However, if Portwood fails to complete the program, she will have to serve up to five years in jail, beginning immediately. Portwood's plea bargain will be considered by an Indiana judge on February 6th before it becomes official.

Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney can tell you that diversion programs were crafted to attempt to help people like you with substance abuse problems rather than simply punishing them. Under these programs, your
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney would actually enter a guilty plea in court in answer to your criminal charges. At that point, the criminal proceedings against you would stop and be scheduled to resume at a later date (usually anywhere from six to 18 months later).
