Former "Home Improvement" Actor Arrested for Possession
Actor Taran Noah Smith was arrested for drug possession earlier this month after local law enforcement agents stopped him for being parked improperly. Smith, who is best known for his work as the youngest of three sons Mark Taylor on the long-running television show "Home Improvement," was in his 1998 Honda Accord when local police noticed that he was parked in front of a fire hydrant. Upon approaching the 27-year-old's vehicle, officers at the scene noticed a "strong odor" of marijuana. Smith was arrested after police found hash, a type of marijuana, either on the actor or in his vehicle. Smith was charged with driving under the influence and felony drug possession. No word has been released as to when Smith will be appearing in court.
If you have been arrested for a drug-related crime, you need an experienced Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney right away. At Kestenbaum, Eisner & Gorin, LLP, our attorneys have over five decades of collective experience in defending clients against drug charges of all types and we know how to craft a successful defense just for you. Your
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney can tell you that, with a few exceptions, most drug crimes in the state of California are felony criminal offenses. Being under the influence of marijuana, or the possession of certain small amounts of marijuana, are sometimes considered misdemeanor criminal offenses. Your
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney knows that if you are facing drug-related criminal charges, you may have options such as drug diversion programs, depending on the facts of your case. If your
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney thinks you may be eligible for drug diversion (also known as deferred entry of judgement), he or she will actually enter a guilty plea on your behalf. This may sound like a bad move on your part, but if you are eligible, your criminal proceedings will actually be put on hold and scheduled to resume at a later date, usually six to 18 months later. During this time, you will be on a type of probation that will require you to get treatment for substance abuse and may also require you to perform community service and meet periodically with an officer of the court to track your progress. Your
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney can tell you that once your court proceedings resume, if you have completed the terms of your agreement with the court, your charges will be dismissed entirely. However, if you fail to complete your program, having already entered a guilty plea, you will then be sentenced according to the standard sentencing guidelines relevent to your case. If you are facing drug charges and need an experienced and capable
Los Angeles Drug Crime Defense Attorney to defend you, call the offices of Kestenbaum, Eisner & Gorin, LLP today at 1-877-781-1570.
